Drama and Dance

Each year, the school stages eight productions—from classic plays to dance showcases. Recent shows like “Jane Eyre” and “A Christmas Carol” drew over a thousand spectators, with more than a hundred participants involved in the projects themselves. Rehearsals and performances take place in the Clarissa Farr Theatre and Helen McCrory Studio, which provide modern facilities for both practice and stagecraft.

Technical Skills at Queenswood School

Students actively engage with the technical side of theatre production, learning lighting, sound, and multimedia under experienced mentors. Working with flying rigs allows them to develop unique skills while the Helen McCrory Studio becomes a space for complex projects that help talents emerge and grow beyond traditional performance roles.

Musical Achievements

Most students learn at least one musical instrument, with Queenswood School offering instruction across all standard instruments and vocal training. Participation in ABRSM exams consistently yields strong results, while scholarships support talented musicians in developing their abilities further and pursuing more ambitious musical goals.

The school provides diverse choral and orchestral ensembles where groups like the Community Choir and Queenswood Orchestra perform a wide repertoire. Collectives such as the percussion ensemble are just one example of this approach, with many groups actively participating in concerts and musical tours across Europe.

Dance Programmes

Classes in ISTD Cecchetti classical ballet take place in a specialized studio, while students at Queenswood School can choose from numerous dance clubs like QYDC and Aerial Hoop/Silks Classes. Opportunities to compete in dance competitions create a spirited atmosphere, and trips to the Royal Ballet and West End shows enrich the experience.
